| Practice Profile Henry specialises in crime and employment law.
• Criminal
Henry’s criminal practice is largely defence-oriented, being
instructed in the Crown, Youth and magistrates’ courts in matters
ranging from dishonesty offences to offences against the person,
public order offences and harassment, possession of offensive weapons,
drugs offences, benefit frauds, arson and criminal damage.
Henry has a burgeoning Crown Court practice that has included cases of
robbery, violent disorder, arson, conspiracy to supply class A drugs,
importation of cocaine, supply of cannabis, violence, and sexual
offences.
Henry also represents respondents in ASBO and SOPO applications.
He has experience prosecuting and is an approved prosecutor for the
CPS. He also prosecutes on behalf of local authorities and other
prosecuting bodies.
Recent cases:
R v MG (2009): Henry recently secured the acquittal of a defendant
charged with domestic violence ABH and other related offences. The
jury returned Not Guilty verdicts on all counts.
R v H-W (2009): Henry recently represented a defendant charged with
possession with intent to supply cannabis. The jury at Maidstone Crown
Court returned a verdict of Not Guilty.
R v JD and another (2009): Henry’s 15 year old client was found Not
Guilty of assault occasioning Actual Bodily Harm, after a trial in
Hendon Youth Court lasting five days.
R v T and D (2009): After three days of evidence Henry successfully
secured the acquittal of two defendants charged before the Watford
magistrates with causing extensive criminal damage.
R v LT and others (2009): Henry represented one of eight defendants
charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs following an extensive
undercover police operation into a notorious drugs supply network.
• Employment
Henry also specialises in employment law, and his employment practice has included cases before the Employment Appeal Tribunal.
He advises pre-action and appears for both employers and employees, with particular experience in cases of unfair dismissal, including constructive dismissal, and TUPE transfers. He also regularly advises in wrongful dismissal claims and on remedy and appropriate settlements.
• Civil
Henry has experience in a wider range of civil matters, advising and
appearing in the High Court and County Court for both claimants and
defendants in proceedings including small claims trials, bankruptcy
proceedings, costs assessments, possession hearings and infant
settlement hearings. Henry advises on quantum in personal injury cases
at all levels, including advising on claims for gratuitous care and
assistance. Alongside his wider civil practice, Henry also maintains
an interest in all matters relating to wills and probate.
