Kate defends and prosecutes in the crown, magistrates’ and youth courts, dealing with offences including robbery, threats to kill, GBH, aggravated burglary, benefit fraud, drugs offences and sexual offences. She has represented applicants and respondents in ASBO applications.
Kate also has experience of prisoners’ adjudications.
Civil
Kate acts in a wide range of civil cases, including personal injury and contractual disputes.

Kate has acted in a number of appeals under the Licensing Act 2003.
| Notable Cases R v Smith (Tina), The Times, December 6, 2005 (CA): Kate acted for the appellant in an appeal against conviction. The court held that a jury that had failed to reach a verdict on a racially aggravated public order offence could not go on to convict of the basic offence.
