Sajjad has a Business and Property Law practice, with a particular emphasis on Chancery work.
Recent cases include acting for a defendant in a claim involving the marshalling of securities and the equity of exoneration; a claim for professional negligence following rescission of a contract for sale of property; a claim for rectification of the land register founded on allegations of fraud and acting in a partnership dispute which concerned the retirement provisions in a partnership deed.
Sajjad’s practice comprises a healthy split between pleading/advisory work and Court work. Having formerly been a city solicitor at DJ Freeman (media and commercial litigation), Sajjad is well able to understand the needs of professional clients and the commercial realities of litigation. This can be particularly useful in terms of advising on case preparation and development of a case theory at an early stage.
He was appointed Deputy District Judge in March 2019.
Commercial Litigation: Sajjad has been instructed in a variety of disputes, whether litigated in the High Court or County Court, or otherwise dealt with through mediation or at round table meetings, in a range of work from construction, supply of goods and services and agency to professional negligence and general commercial contractual disputes.
Property and Chancery Litigation: Sajjad has extensive experience of acting in property related matters, with a particular specialism in claims brought by co-habiting partners under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996. He has acted in both sole name and joint names cases and further in parent/child disputes involving allegations of undue influence, duress and/or gift. He has further acted in Claims involving the marshalling of securities; partnership disputes and joint venture agreements.
Commercial Landlord and Tenant: Sajjad acts for both landlords and tenants, in claims primarily brought under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 and service charge disputes.

I have had the pleasure knowing Sajjad for several years and have always known him to be a most competent and able barrister. However, and much to my dismay, I once found myself opposing my talented friend.
Although his good nature and sense of humour meant that this eight day trial passed in the type of amiable fashion litigators often only dream of, to be on the receiving end of his fluid, adaptable and comprehensive witness handling skills was a kind reminder as to why it is important to ensure Sajjad is acting for you rather than against you.
Without hesitation, it would be difficult for me to deny that Sajjad is one of the most talented barristers whom I have had the pleasure of meeting throughout the course of my practice.
