London Legal Walk 2023

First...snacktime

First...snacktime

A selection of snacks before we set off - we wanted to make sure that we were all fuelled up for the 10km ahead!

Team assemble!

Snacks done, the 5 Pump Court team was ready to go! Fresh faced, feet not aching, looking forward to a stroll in the sunshine.

Here we go!

Here we go!

We checked in at the Law Society, and set off. Note Holly (on the right) is carrying a Red Book in her bag as she's never off duty. We tried not to pay too much attention to the hot and bothered lawyers who were finishing just as we were starting...

3km down...

3km down...

Time for a beer stop. It was hot after all. And we were thirsty. Very dehydrating to walk in the sun.

One or two people realised that drinking beer on a hot day less than a third of the way round the route might not be the best plan. So Mr Whippy joined our team. Temporarily.

Halfway around - a view over the Serpentine

The end!

The end!

Some time later (we'll gloss over how long), we finished the route and headed straight to the Law Society for a much needed drink! Best not to count how many people are in the after photo as opposed to the before one.

Most importantly, Holly was still carrying her Red Book some 10km later! And looking more cheerful than you would expect someone to who has dragged a huge Red Book all around central London.

As always, the Legal Walk 2023 was a fantastic event. A big thank you to the London Legal Support Trust who do a brilliant job of organising the event each year.

It was great to see the number of people taking part - all afternoon there were teams walking past our Chambers windows, and even when we started there was team after team after team registering, starting, walking and finishing. It was fun to spot the various T-shirts, especially those for our Pump Court neighbours many of whom we saw as we walked the route.

A functioning justice system is one of the hallmarks of a civilised society, and a robust legal system is one of the most important checks and balances in a healthy democracy. The Legal Walk is an opportunity to raise funds to ensure that access to justice is available to everyone. It is also a chance to demonstrate our commitment to a healthy, well functioning legal system and our determination to preserve and improve it for the future.

We are very grateful to everyone who has sponsored the team and thank you for your support. To make a donation, please click here:
