Biography

Abdul is a civil specialist with a busy practice across a range of work including commercial and contract disputes; insolvency; property and TOLATA work; and personal injury, clinical negligence, inquests and credit hire cases. He is keen to continue to build his practice in these areas, and thrives on being in court advocating for his clients in a range of different cases. 

Abdul is a calm and very hard working advocate who prides himself on building good working relationships with solicitors and lay clients. He is extremely efficient and has excellent communication skills. He has an empathetic but pragmatic approach, advising clients realistically on the law and the likely outcome in court in order to work with them to achieve the best possible resolution of each case. 

Abdul is used to quickly assimilating facts and papers, and is good at getting on top of the detail quickly. He is organised and remains calm under pressure. 

Outside of work, Abdul is the Treasurer of Bridging the Bar, a charity that aims to support aspiring barristers from a range of statistically underrepresented groups at the Bar. 

Business/Commercial/Insolvency

Abdul has a growing practice in business and commercial litigation with experience in contractual disputes and debt recovery. He is regularly instructed to advise on the merits of contractual claims, draft pleadings and appear at interlocutory hearings. He has acted in applications for strike out, relief from sanctions and summary judgment.

He has also gained experience in insolvency matters including bankruptcy and winding-up petitions as well as applications to set aside statutory demands. His instructions have included work for individuals and companies on the prospects of resisting or pursuing insolvency processes. He has appeared in both the County Court and the High Court on behalf of creditors and debtors.

Abdul is keen to build on this foundation and welcomes instructions in all aspects of business and commercial litigation. He is particularly interested in shareholder disputes, insolvency-related claims and contractual litigation in the High Court but remains open to instructions across the field.

Property/Construction

Abdul has a strong grounding in property litigation and acts regularly in landlord and tenant disputes, mortgage possession claims and housing disrepair matters. He has built a busy County Court practice which has included possession proceedings, disrepair disputes and contested mortgage enforcement claims. He is valued by clients for his pragmatic approach and concise advocacy.

He has also been instructed in property-related contractual disputes including contested service charges, commercial lease disagreements and tenancy disputes. His work has required close engagement with statutory frameworks and common law principles, and he brings methodical preparation and attention to detail whether in writing or in court.

Abdul welcomes instructions across the range of property and construction litigation. He is particularly interested in disputes involving ownership, land use and contractual issues in the construction context but remains open to all instructions in this area.

TOLATA and ownership disputes

Abdul is developing a practice in disputes concerning property ownership and trusts of land. His experience in landlord and tenant litigation, mortgage enforcement and possession proceedings has provided him with a strong foundation for handling cases involving ownership, occupation and equitable interests. He is accustomed to analysing complex factual backgrounds and applying statutory and equitable principles to reach practical outcomes for clients.

He is also building his practice in claims under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 including disputes between cohabitees and family members about beneficial ownership. He has advised on cases involving contributions to purchase price, improvements to property and disputes over occupation rights. He adopts a measured approach to fact-sensitive disputes.

Abdul is keen to expand his instructions in this field and welcomes instructions in cases involving beneficial interests, occupation disputes and related property claims.

Insurance/Credit Hire

Abdul has significant experience in insurance and credit hire litigation. He has appeared in a large number of County Court trials and interlocutory hearings and is valued for his confident advocacy and detailed preparation.

In the credit hire context, Abdul has dealt with modest and high-value vehicle cases and is well-versed in issues of need, enforceability, impecuniosity and rates evidence. He has argued technical points on subrogation, indemnity and mitigation of loss.

Abdul is keen to grow his practice in both credit hire and wider insurance disputes. He welcomes instructions in cases involving coverage, recovery and subrogation issues as well as all other aspects of motor and property insurance litigation.

PI / Clinical Negligence / Inquests

Abdul has a busy personal injury practice and is regularly instructed in fast-track trials, Stage 3 hearings, infant settlement approvals and claims under the OIC small claims process. He has advised on quantum, drafted pleadings and acted in cases involving road traffic accidents, occupiers’ liability and employers’ liability. His courtroom advocacy and clear written work make him a popular choice with solicitors. He has solid experience in assessing medical evidence, valuing claims and handling fact-sensitive disputes. His PI practice has involved a wide range of instructions, and he has established a reputation for reliability and efficiency in this field.

Abdul welcomes instructions across the full range of personal injury work and is particularly keen to expand into clinical negligence and inquests. He is open to all types of claims in this area and aims to develop his practice across the wider field of injury and healthcare-related litigation.

Notable Cases

H v S [2025] (Commercial Contract Dispute): Acted for the respondent in a contested strike out application raising complex arguments on piercing the corporate veil and the tort of deceit. Successfully resisted the application, with the court dismissing it in full and making a significant costs order in favour of the client.

S v L [2025] (Mortgage / Property Dispute): Represented a mortgage company in the High Court where the claimant sought urgent injunctive relief to prevent enforcement and access to the property. The application involved detailed procedural arguments involving the CPR, statute and case law. Successfully resisted the claim and obtained dismissal with costs.

T v A [2025] (Personal Injury – Road Traffic Accident): Acted for the claimant in a fast-track trial where serious and substantive allegations of fundamental dishonesty were advanced. The case required careful handling of medical and witness evidence. Judgment was entered for the claimant in full, with all allegations of dishonesty defeated.

M v R [2025] (Property / Landlord and Tenant – Small Claims Trial): Acted for the defendant in a fact-sensitive trial involving allegations of property damage, flooding and trespass. After cross-examination of the claimant, the court dismissed the claim in its entirety and awarded costs and expenses to the defendant.

B v P & M [2024] (Landlord and Tenant – Possession Trial): Represented a landlord in contested possession proceedings under section 8, ground 8. The claim was defended on grounds of alleged disrepair and a tenancy deposit counterclaim. After a fully contested trial, Abdul successfully obtained possession and secured a costs order in favour of the client.

C v N [2024] (Credit Hire): Acted for the claimant in a credit hire dispute involving technical arguments on enforceability, need and impecuniosity. Following a contested trial, the court accepted the claimant’s evidence in full and awarded recovery of a significant amount of the hire charges together with costs.
