Biography
James is a family pupil who joined chambers in October 2025. He is keen to develop a practice incorporating both family and civil work. Under the supervision of Chris Mitropoulos, James has seen a variety of public and private children cases including fact-finding and final hearings as well as High Court cases with international elements and appeals. He has also gained exposure to several other areas including financial remedies, domestic abuse, property and credit hire.
Prior to commencing pupillage, James accumulated a wide range of legal experience. He appeared in almost 400 hearings as a self-employed County Court Advocate, representing clients in matters such as small claims trials, landlord and tenant disputes, interim applications, and insolvency proceedings. He was subsequently appointed as an Advocacy Manager at a national advocacy law firm, where he was part of a team overseeing the work of more than 200 advocates across England and Wales.
James also worked as a paralegal at a specialist employment firm, where he held client conferences, conducted negotiations, and drafted documents including pleadings, contracts, settlement agreements, witness statements, and company policies. His wider experience includes representing a client in an unfair dismissal claim through the Free Representation Unit and completing an internship at the UK Supreme Court during the case of For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers [2025] UKSC 16.
