Meet our newest tenant: Queenet Awesu

Abimbola Badejo Abimbola Badejo 14th October 2024

We are delighted that Queenet Awesu has joined Chambers as our newest tenant following the successful completion of her pupillage.

Queenet undertook a specialist family pupillage under the supervision of Catherine Sparks, Kevin Gordon and Trisan Hyatt. Over the past 12 months, she has experienced a wide range of family hearings across the whole range of private children, public children, financial remedies, international work and injunctions (particularly in relation to domestic abuse). She is keen on developing a national and international children law practice in both public and private proceedings.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Queenet worked in a pro bono clinic; with a legal charity assisting litigants in person in the family courts; and as a paralegal in a specialist family law firm. These experiences have given her great insight into client care, and particularly into understanding the stress and anxiety which can be caused by court proceedings. She is a kind and calming presence for her clients.

Queenet is also experienced at working with vulnerable clients, and is currently working with clients who have physical and/or mental health issues or have been subject to domestic abuse. She considers all aspects of her clients position in order to advise them pragmatically and to fight their corner in court.

Queenet had an unusual route to the Bar, choosing to apply for pupillage only with 5 Pump Court! She has thrown herself into life in Chambers, representing us at events such as a panel on a career in law for the Sutton Trust; presenting a qualifying session for Middle Temple; presenting to Bar students at the University of Law; and attending the Women in Law Day for the Girls Network.

We are delighted to welcome Queenet as the newest tenant in our growing and ambitious family team, and we look forward to her being an integral part of Chambers for many years to come!
